Introduction

Students read the short story in English (which they learn as a second language). The story is quite appropriate for them as it is told in the present simple, a verb tense which they have already studied and are supposed to know well. Students ask each other simple questions about the story as a way of developing their speaking skills. Questions may be about the place, time, plot, main characters, etc. Then students do a kahoot game just to check their overall understanding of the story.

Learning Objectives

  • ● Students are expected to formulate correct questions and give accurate answers by using their knowledge of the story they have previously read.
  • ● Students are expected to remember important details when playing the kahoot game.

Process

To introduce the lesson the teacher projects a video illustrating the place where the story happens. Then students start interacting by asking and answering questions about the story. Finally, and to assess their understanding of the story, students play a kahoot game .

Conclusion

Students enjoy reading this story very much. They like books about vampires and everything that has to do with the supernatural. Reading stories is a very effective activity for foreign language learning if the themes are of their interest and catch your attention.
